Financial Incentives

In addition to generating energy for your own home with your renewable system installation, you could also make money. Financial incentives include Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) from systems which produce electricity, such as a solar electricity (PV) system, that provide a guaranteed rate for each unit of electricity generated, as well as for each unit exported to the National Grid.

If you are installing a renewable or low carbon heat technology (such as a wood-fuelled boiler, solar hot water heating or a heat pump) then you may be eligible for the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) if installed within a single domestic property. The domestic tariff is currently paid over a 7 year duration.

There is also the Non-Domestic RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive) this scheme is aimed towards businesses and multiple heated properties for heat generated technologies. The Non Domestic tariff is currently paid over a 20 year duration.

FeeThere are two schemes to the RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive):

There are also other financial incentives such as grants that are available for renewable technologies we recommend you read up on the information provided on the Energy Saving Trust's website.
