Biomass systems (Wood-Fuelled heating systems), burn wood pellets, chips or logs to provide heat to a room or to run central heating systems and hot water boilers. Running a Biomass Boiler system on either logs, pellets or chips connected to a central heating system could save almost £600* a year compared to electricity.

Biomass
Biomass is a renewable, low carbon fuel that is already widely available throughout the UK. Its production and use brings additional environmental and social benefits. Correctly managed, biomass is a sustainable fuel that can deliver a significant reduction in net carbon emissions when compared with fossil fuels.
As a sustainable fuel, biomass can be sourced locally, from within the UK, on an indefinite basis. Many biomass fuels generate lower levels of such atmospheric pollutants as sulphur dioxide, that contributes to 'acid rain'. UK sourced biomass can offer local business opportunities and support the rural economy, and local networks of production and usage, allows the financial and environmental costs of transport to be minimised.
A wood burning central heating system can utilise a sustainable source of energy from organic materials, either directly from plants or indirectly from agricultural products therefore becoming a link in the carbon neutral cycle. Renewable sources of energy have the additional benefit of contributing to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions.
Solarae can identify if your biomass project is feasible, having access to a team of architects and surveyors to plan and design boiler rooms and fuel stores whether it’s a new building or adapting existing buildings. Solarae are members of HETAS (Approved Biomass Installers), have MCS accreditation and we are members of the REAL Assurance Scheme, which means that you could be eligible for any support under the Renewable Heat Incentive.
